We Know Kids.
Professional Experience + Lived Experience + Specialized Child Development and Mental Health Education
At Just Kids Mental Health, our extensive experience with children comes first. We’ve spent years working in childcare, schools, camps, after-school and community programs. We’ve played, tutored, planned lessons, designed therapeutic activities, written behaviour support plans, scheduled out-trips, calmed fears, managed meltdowns, worked through sensory challenges, advocated for inclusivity, attended IEP meetings, built relationships with families, listened and felt deeply and witnessed the struggles and the successes.
We’re also parents and caregivers. We know the sleepless nights, the hurried mornings, the fears, the exhaustion, the hopes, the joys, the tears and the beautiful, unpredictable, scary messiness of raising children. We’re navigating our own children’s mental health challenges as best we can too.
We’re child and youth mental health professionals, but we have extensive experience with children across a broad range of environments - not just in the context of mental health treatment. We understand the realities of working with and raising children. This is where our passion for understanding and improving children’s mental health comes from, and what sets us apart in the field.
We know that children from all kinds of backgrounds and families struggle with their mental health, and we know that how we - the adults - respond to these struggles matters. We know that you need more options.
You deserve support from professionals who understand where you’re coming from and who understand not only a child’s capacity to thrive under the right circumstances, but also what those circumstances are and how to realistically create and advocate for them as a busy parent/caregiver.
We work with parents and children from 1-19 years old.
All of our services are provided online in a flexible, asynchronous format - but you’re always connecting with a real person on the other end.
There’s nothing to schedule; no in-person or virtual meetings are required. All information is gathered through digital assessments and email. Reports and action plans are provided in pdf format and sent to your email for download. All guidance is provided through email or chat.
